The biggest events of 2027 to plan with friends

2027 is a ridiculous year for going places with your friends. A Super Bowl in LA, a Champions League final in Madrid, Glastonbury back after its year off, an Ashes summer in England, and a Rugby World Cup across Australia, all inside twelve months.

The groups that actually get to these events share one habit: they decide early. So here is the year at a glance, season by season, with the one planning move that matters for each.

Winter: January and February

• Australian Open, Melbourne (Jan 17 to 31). Two weeks of tennis with a grounds pass built for groups. Melbourne in January is summer, book beds early.
• CFP National Championship, Las Vegas (Jan 25). College football's title game meets a Vegas weekend. The hotel block is the whole plan.
• Rio Carnival (Feb 5 to 13). The Sambadrome parades plus a citywide party. A bucket-list crew trip; sort accommodation months out.
• Mardi Gras, New Orleans (season ends Feb 9). An unusually early Fat Tuesday in 2027, so the big parade weekends land in late January and the first week of February.

• Six Nations (February and March). Pick one away day with your crew: Dublin, Cardiff, Paris, Rome, Edinburgh, or London.

Spring: March to May

• St. Patrick's Festival, Dublin (Mar 13 to 17). Five festival days ending in the parade. Dublin beds vanish, move fast.
• Ultra Music Festival, Miami (Mar 26 to 28). Three days downtown; the group house on the water is the move.
• Final Four, Detroit (Apr 3 and 5). March Madness ends at Ford Field.
• The Masters, Augusta (Apr 8 to 11). The hardest ticket in golf, the easiest trip to plan around if you get one.

Summer: June to August

• Primavera Sound, Barcelona (Jun 3 to 5). A seaside line-up and a city break in one.
• Champions League Final, Madrid (Jun 5). Club football's biggest night at the Metropolitano. Plan the weekend, not just the match.
• 24 Hours of Le Mans (Jun 12 to 13). Camp trackside with the crew for a full day and night of racing.
• The Ashes, England (Jun 18 to Aug 2). Five Tests across Nottingham, London, Birmingham, and Southampton. Pick your Test and make it a week.
• Glastonbury, Worthy Farm (Jun 23 to 27). Back after the fallow year. Tickets are the hard part; the crew logistics are the rest.
• Women's World Cup, Brazil (Jun 24 to Jul 25). A month of football ending at the Maracana.
• Wimbledon, London (Jun 28 to Jul 11). Pick your days, share a London base.
• The Open, St Andrews (Jul 15 to 18). Golf's oldest major at the Old Course. The classic buddies trip.
• San Diego Comic-Con (Jul 21 to 25). Hotel blocks go instantly; the group that plans together stays together.
• Tomorrowland, Belgium and Lollapalooza, Chicago (late July). Two very different ways to end the month with a crew.
• Reading and Leeds (late August). The UK bank holiday closer, same line-up on two sites.

Autumn: September to November

• Ryder Cup, Adare Manor, Ireland (Sep 17 to 19). Three days of team golf built for a group trip; Ireland's biggest sporting week in decades.
