Norway are back at a World Cup for the first time in a generation, and they have been handed one of the most travel-friendly routes in the whole tournament: a tight east-coast loop between Boston and the New York area. The football is the hard part here, not the logistics.

Where Norway play in the group

Two games in Boston, one near New York, all in the United States. Here is the real schedule.

Norway group fixtures · Group I
  • vs Iraq

    BostonTue, Jun 166:00 PM

    Gillette Stadium

  • vs Senegal

New York / New JerseyMon, Jun 228:00 PM

    MetLife Stadium

  • vs France

    BostonFri, Jun 263:00 PM

    Gillette Stadium

A group with France in it is no gift, but the compact geography means you can give everything to the matchdays and very little to the travel.

Following Norway city to city

This is the shortest route in our country guides. Here is what the planner builds, with the real distance between Boston and the New York area.

  • Finish second, or sneak through as a best third, and the picture shifts. The full projected path, every outcome, is part of the planner.

Knockout venues depend on the final group table. Build your trip to see your full projected path and lock cities as results come in.

Knockout cities are projections from the group draw and will shift with the final standings. Both the winner and runner-up paths are worth a look before you book.

How hot will it be

The northeastern United States is among the milder host regions in June. These are sober estimates from each venue's climate normals, so you can travel light rather than over-prepare.

Heat reads for Norway's group cities

    Comfortable conditions expected.

What to bring: Water to stay hydrated, Sun protection for daytime matches.

Estimates from June/July climate normals per venue, not a live forecast. Indoor or air-conditioned stadiums read cooler.

Do Norwegian fans need a visa or an ESTA

All three group games are in the United States, so a Norwegian passport needs an approved ESTA but no visa. The detail below is from the official program list, dated and sourced.

ESTA for the USA

ESTA

Your Norway passport is visa-exempt, so you will need an approved ESTA to fly to the USA. Apply before you travel and carry the confirmation. Confirm on the official site.

Entry rules change. Always confirm on the official source before you travel.

Buying tickets without getting scammed

A first World Cup in years is the kind of occasion people will overpay for, and scammers know it. Lookalike sites, pressure to pay by bank transfer, and prices that are too good to be true are red flags, not proof on their own, but enough together is your signal to stop.
